“Student leaders have decided to step up and lead the voter registration efforts in our district. This for-student by-student initiative has been moved to an online forum. Student Voice Leaders are creating an online promotional campaign to educate students on the registration guidelines, voting opportunities, and information on the candidates. The student leaders are busy designing a structure for our website, creating online brochures and educational materials, fact checking, and working with students from the University of Pittsburgh to provide high quality, equitable, and correct communications.

I hope you and your family had a nice weekend. Last Thursday and Friday, we held a virtual training on Microsoft Teams to help familiarize parents/guardians with our remote learning platform. The training is now available online at www.pghschools.org/remotelearning. If you find you need additional support with Microsoft Teams, please let us know. TalkingPoints – A way to connect with your child’s teacher
The District is using the tool TalkingPoints to support teacher to parent and parent to teacher communications. Teachers utilizing TalkingPoints for communications will share details on how to connect and use the online tool directly with their student’s parents.
Technology Distribution to Students in Grade 8 Scheduled for May 13 and May 14
Distribution of laptops for students in grade 8 will occur for identified students on Wednesday, May 13, and Thursday, May 14. All 8th-grade students that need technology at home will be contacted by their school regarding the plan for laptop distribution. Please contact your child’s teacher or principal if your child needs technology at home. Any student or family member picking up a laptop during this week’s distribution should be wearing a face-covering such as a mask, scarf, or bandana and follow all social distancing protocols.
The dates for virtual graduation have been posted to our website www.pghschools.org/graduation. Additional information, including the link to the virtual graduation ceremonies, will be shared with our seniors and their families in the next few weeks.
