May 18, 2020 PPS Parent Update Letter
Monday, May 18, 2020
Dear PPS Families,
I hope each of you had a good weekend and were able to take some time to enjoy the beautiful weather across the Pittsburgh region. This evening the Board of Directors and members of my leadership team heard testimony for families and community advocates on remote learning and Policy 119 Athletic Academic Eligibility. I appreciate everyone that submitted testimony and shared their perspectives. We value hearing from families and will be engaging stakeholders from across the city on planning for our reopening in the fall.
The District is now able to take enrollment online for students to enter prekindergarten, kindergarten, and grades 1 through 12. Please visit www.pghschools.org/enrollment or submit a ticket through Let’s Talk at www.pghschools.org/letstalk so one of our student data specialists can contact you. To speed up the enrollment process, families will need to complete the enrollment packet for the school year they will be attending as well as documents showing two proofs of residency, student’s proof of age and current immunization records.

Instructional Packet Distribution – Round 3
The third wave of instructional materials will be available this Wednesday, May 20, and Thursday, May 21 at school and community sites across the city for students in grades PreK-8. To identify the school or community location closest to your home, please visit www.wprdc.org/pps-pickup/.
Sites will not be accepting any completed instructional packet. Please work with your child’s teacher on packet submission.
Families that are unable to pick-up materials are encouraged to contact the District’s Support Center at 412-529-HELP or www.pghschools.org/letstalk. The distribution of instructional packets is prioritized for families that do not have technology at home. If your child is having difficulty with Microsoft teams, please reach out to their teacher. The instructional materials for students in regional classrooms, Pioneer and Conroy were mailed and should arrive no later than Tuesday, May 19.

Apply for Virtual Summer Dreamers Academy by May 29
This summer, we will be holding our premier no-cost Summer Dreamers Academy virtually. The camp will be available for a current student in grades K-5. It is anticipated to run from June 29 through August 5. The daily schedule will be shortened and will incorporate fun and engaging camp activities that our campers and families have come to enjoy. Campers will log in to camp virtually and will be able to join activities through Microsoft Teams. We will make sure that campers have access to the technology required to participate. Families interested in applying can find the application at www.pghschools.org/summerdreamers and apply using their Home Access Center (HAC) username and password. For help with your HAC credentials, please call 412-529-4357. For assistance with the online application, please leave a message at 412-529-2454, and a team member will return your call as soon as possible.
