Board of Directors President
Shirley B. Slade is a Self Sufficiency Service Coordinator for the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh (HACP). Shirley earned her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh. While a substitute teacher in the Wilkinsburg, PA School District her passion to teach and care for younger children were kindred. Her passion led her to become the Director of the Childcare Center at a local YMCA in Pittsburgh. During Shirley’s time at the childcare center, she was able to cultivate lasting relationships with the community and social service agencies.
Shirley was able to transfer her experience in relationship building to her position as a Community/School Liaison with Children Youth and Families. Shirley’s greatest pleasure from these seasons in her life is the positive outcomes in the lives of the children and parents. Shirley is an Ordain Minister at Petra International Ministries where she continues to pour out her heart of compassion on children and adults. Shirley serves on the board of Ruth’s Way Inc., which is a non-profit organization that provides an array of services to troubled young girls. Shirley is a lifelong resident of Pittsburgh where she resides with her husband Elder Roland. She is the mother of two daughters and a son.
