Anay Pope

Achievement Consultation Program Manager

Anay Pope was raised in Braddock, Pa and attended Woodland Hills High School. In 2007 she left Pittsburgh to live with her father in Killeen, TX. It was there she was exposed to a southern lifestyle and a deep love for the military. After leaving Texas she attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania to obtain a BS. Ed in Early Childhood and Special Education with a concentration in Urban Education and Minor in Educational Psychology. Believing the best teachers should go where they are needed, Anay traveled to Baltimore City Public Schools to teach 2nd & 3rd grade Math and Science. Upon witnessing her school’s community being ravaged by poverty and police corruption (which culminated in the Freddie Gray riots). Anay left Baltimore to pursue a Master’s in Student Affairs and Higher Education. At the time she dreamed of designing programming that would help students in inner city neighborhoods get to college through supports built by the colleges. While attending Penn State University, Anay helped to create the DC Social Justice Fellowship, which helped undergraduate students build social justice focused curriculum. Students were then taken to Washington D.C. to teach these curricula in the schools. After graduation Anay started to pursue a PHD in curriculum and instruction BUT GOD had other plans. As she seemingly searched for the right fit Anay worked as a Daycare Director, Direct Service Worker, Director of Social Services for a skilled nursing facility, Program Director, and Manager of Workforce Development. At the time Anay wondered why God had taken her on such a winding path. He revealed that every placement was in preparation for her work in the non-profit field. Anay’s biggest dream is to ensure little girls like her, who have a deep testimony, have access to the resources they need to develop in places they do not feel whole. Anay is a constructivist at heart and truly believes that learning is reciprocation. She works from a place of empathy, love, and knowledge.
