Founded in 2005, Ruth’s Way is a non-profit 501(c)(3) Achievement Consulting Agency for Adolescent Girls (ACAAG) ages 13-21. With over 20 years of Social Services experience, we form a phenomenal team of Behavioral Health Professionals!
What’s An Achievement Consultant?
We are NOT Case Managers because we don’t want to try to “manage” the lives of our youth. Achievement Consultants are Strength-based Family Workers who strive to empower our female youth, so that they learn how to manage their own lives and are in total control of achieving their MOST successful future possible!
How’s it all done?
We provide female youth with the blueprint on how to achieve successful futures, by showing them how to properly navigate through life’s bumps and bruises, so that their ultimate virtuousness can be revealed! We show our girls and their families how to appropriately address their own barriers and behavioral health issues, so that they are properly prepared to deal with future adversities through healthy self-reliance. Our key areas of focus within this process are Family Development, Care Coordination, Life Coaching, Life Skills, Job Development, Job Readiness and Employment Soft Skills, Counseling and Mentoring for our girls AND their families. Utilizing this holistic approach allows us to effectively develop long term goals focused on successful future achievement!
The goal of Ruth’s Way is to empower our youth by showing them that regardless of their past or current situation, they CAN achieve successful futures! Our mission is to help young girls achieve long-term success as ethical, virtuous women of society.
Through the elements of Family, Friendship, and Faithfulness, we are blossoming our girls into virtuous women! This value system, (known as the “3-F’s” Value System), is based on the values and morals of the Biblical story of Ruth, her faithfulness, and her determination to preserve her family connections. We believe that a young lady who fully embraces these values, is highly unlikely to repeat negative behaviors which are not in harmony with the virtuousness within her.
Most Recent Successes:
Last year, 100% of our girls maintained program retention and achieved at least 1 of their primary goals! 89% or our girls successfully achieved a minimum of 3 of their goals earning incentives! 75% of them maintained consistency in avoiding prior repetitive negative behaviors!
Our program is important because Ruth’s Way provides an effective means of reducing repetitive negative behaviors and recidivism among female youth, which can eventually lead to possible facility placement. Therefore, our program serves as an effective deterrent to facility placement among our female youth, through our Achievement Consulting Agency for Girls.
Our Phenomenal Programs:
Negative behaviors and/or recidivism of girls can be vastly reduced when they are actively engaged in specific activities that focus on their development and recreation. Just like boys, girls respond positively to such activities. But unfortunately, there are not a lot of programs in place within our communities for girls, vs. those serving male youth. For this reason, we have developed the following gender-specific programs which focus on the positive development and recreation for our girls:
The Job Readiness and Employment Soft Skills Program is an innovate composure of interactive activities, focusing in the core areas of Communication, Enthusiasm and Attitude, Teamwork, Networking, Problem Solving and Critical Thinking, and Professionalism. Activities are typically facilitated within a classroom atmosphere.
Life Skills Just For Girls! is our gender-based program derived from a more holistic approach which combines the spiritual, physical, and mental aspects of healthy lifestyles. Our core areas of focus are self-esteem, effective journal keeping, goal setting, interview attire, healthy relationships, positive communication, job-readiness, career preparation, healthy eating habits, self-care and image building.
The Junior Toastmasters Communication and Leadership Development Program is taught by an authentic Toastmaster, whom presents genuine Toastmasters Curriculum which is designed to cater to young audiences for easier comprehension. In addition to learning phenomenal Public Speaking skills, youth develop communication and leadership skills through practical experience. Participants learn to:
– Evaluate present speaking ability
– Organize and give speeches
– Give impromptu talks
– Control voice, vocabulary and gestures
– Give constructive feedback and more
The Career Mentoring Program is a collaborative effort between Ruth’s Way and the Goodwill GoodGuides Youth Mentoring Program, which provides our participating youth with a Career Mentor AND an Instructor who teaches the Jumpstart Success Curriculum! The Curriculum core areas of focus include interviewing skills, how to dress for success, communication skills, how to handle challenges in the workplace, determine options for life after high school graduation, create a career plan and set goals for the current academic school year. Youth will obtain career-readiness, attend job tours and receive life skills training. The program is dedicated to helping youth build career plans and skills and prepare for school completion, post-secondary training and productive work by providing structured and supportive relationships with trusted adult mentors.
